1st International Workshop on
Management of SDN and NFV Systems
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil - November 21, 2014

Message from the ManSDN/NFV Workshop Co-Chairs

Welcome to the first Workshop on Management of SDN and NFV Systems (ManSDN/NFV 2014)! We are pleased to offer a new venue to spark discussion on SDN and NFV management issues. We hope that, with its high-quality technical program and its pleasant setting, the workshop will stimulate profitable interaction among participants. Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) are two disruptive paradigms that are shaping the future networking landscape and we hope that this workshop will be the catalyst for many productive discussions on those subjects.

We received 21 submissions. All papers received a minimum of three reviews, with most receiving four reviews. Out of the 21 papers, 9 were accepted as full papers to be presented orally, and 5 as short papers to be presented as posters. The proceedings include both full and short papers. As well as the reviewed papers, ManSDN/NDV includes two keynotes by distinguished speakers. Prof. Scott Shenker, UC Berkeley/ICSI will talk on the past and future of SDN, and Prof. Danny Raz, Bell Labs and Technion, will discuss the meeting of SDN and NFV efforts.

We wish to thank the many people who contributed to the program of this inaugural ManSDN/NFV workshop. Firstly, our thanks to the authors who chose to submit their research to the workshop. We are grateful to the members of the Technical Program Committee and additional reviewers who contributed their time to read the papers and write reviews. Thirdly, we would like to thank the CNSM Workshop Co-Chairs, José Marcos Silva Nogueira and Filip De Turck, for their invitation for us to organize this workshop, and the CNSM General Co-Chairs, Lisandro Zambenedetti Granville and Luciano Paschoal Gaspary, for all their support during the process.

Finally, we would like to welcome you and thank you for your attendance. We hope you will enjoy the workshop program and the conference, and wish you a pleasant stay in Rio!
