10th International Conference on Network and Service Management
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil - November 17-21, 2014

Message from the CNSM General Co-Chairs

The history of CNSM started back in 2005 with the organization of the 1st International Week on Management of Networks and Services (MANWEEK) in Barcelona. MANWEEK was composed of a set of technically related workshops and conferences, such as IFIP/IEEE DSOM, IFIP/IEEE MMNS, and IEEE IPOM. Once organized separately, these workshops and conferences became all collocated in MANWEEK, which has been organized in Barcelona, Spain (MANWEEK 2005), Dublin, Ireland (MANWEEK 2006), San Jose, USA (MANWEEK 2007), Samos Island, Greece (MANWEEK 2008), and Venice, Italy (MANWEEK 2009).

In 2010, the multi-conference style featured by MANWEEK has been replaced with the single track International Conference on Network and Services Management (CNSM). Organized in Niagara Falls, Canada, in 2010, the 6th CNSM has been followed by CNSM 2011 in Paris, France, CNSM 2012 in Las Vegas, USA, CNSM 2013 in Zürich, Switzerland, and now CNSM 2014 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is our pleasure, as General Co-chairs of CNSM 2014 and on the behalf of the CNSM 2014 Organizing Committee, to welcome you to Rio de Janeiro for the 10th edition of CNSM.

The venue of CNSM 2014 is the Windsor Atlântica hotel, located right in front of Rio’s iconic Copacabana beach. We expect you have a nice time in this magnificent location. During this week of November 17-21, you have the opportunity to participate of a rich set of activities. That includes technical sessions of both the main and Mini- Conference, poster sessions, keynotes, panel, and workshop, in additional to social events, which we hope can foster interaction among the CNSM participants, expanding their network of collaboration.

The organization of a conference with the high standard of CNSM is a task only possible with the help of important partners. As such, we would like to express our sincere thanks to CNSM 2014 patrons, sponsors, technical co-sponsors, and supporters: CGI.br/NIC.br, CAPES, DMTF, Google, HP, Globo.com, IEEE Software Defined Networks initiative, IEEE Communications Society, IEEE Computer Society, IFIP, Brazilian Computer Society (SBC), and Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). Last, but certainly not least, we want to show our gratitude for the great work carried out by the CNSM 2014 Organizing Committee, as well as to our group of volunteer students of the Local Organizing Committee.

Again, we warmly welcome you to CNSM 2014, wishing you a fruitful conference, productive meetings, expanded contacts, and great days in this wonderful city of Rio de Janeiro!
